Garden Talk Online answers the questions everyday growers actually ask: why leaves turn yellow, how often to water, what to do about pests, and which tools are worth buying. Despite the name, this is not a forum: there are no member accounts or user posts. We publish practical guides and question-and-answer articles.
Our guides draw on Cooperative Extension publications from U.S. land-grant universities, the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map and manufacturer information for tools and equipment. Gardening depends on climate, soil and season, so we explain the reasoning behind each recommendation and point out when local conditions change the answer.
Who we write for
Our readers are home gardeners in the United States, from beginners planting a first bed to people caring for houseplants, vegetables and ornamental gardens. Every guide aims to answer a real question clearly and point to the source behind any important claim.
How we work
Our articles are researched from Cooperative Extension publications from U.S. land-grant universities, the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map, EPA pesticide label guidance, ASPCA plant toxicity information and manufacturer specifications. We explain how we chose and checked information in our Editorial Policy. We do not publish fake reviews, invented test results or made-up personal stories, and we do not claim to have tested a product unless the article says how it was tested.
How the site is funded
Some links on Garden Talk Online are affiliate links. If you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions never decide what we recommend. Read our Affiliate Disclosure for details.
Important
Read and follow the label on any fertilizer, pesticide or herbicide; the label is the law for pesticide use in the United States. Wear gloves and eye protection when pruning or handling soil amendments, keep products away from children and pets, and check whether plants are toxic to pets before bringing them home. For diagnosis of a serious plant disease or pest, your local Cooperative Extension office can help.
